WA Maritime Museum

Looking for something to do these school holidays? The WA Maritime Museum is a world-class museum at the western end of Victoria Quay. Exhibits include the famous Australia II sailing yacht (complete with world's first - for its time - winged keel) and the jacket worn by then PM Bob Hawke on the day of the celebration of winning the Americas Cup in 1983 (40 years ago this year). Enjoy interactive technological displays, a gift shop and cafe, all air conditioned, perfect for these warm days. Something for all ages and abilities.

Hero angles

Perched on western end of Victoria Quay, the WA Maritime Museum is symbolic of Fremantle’s past, present and future as a coastal city and port.

The Museum houses several unique galleries that explore WA's maritime relationship. From leisure boats and handcrafted sailing boats to commercial pearl luggers, the Museum inspires visitors to discover WA’s affinity with the ocean.

The Museum is home to the winning America's Cup yacht, Australia II, an Oberon class submarine — HMAS Ovens, Jon Sanders’ Parry Endeavour and many other iconic vessels from WA's maritime history.

Opening hours are generally 9.30am - 5pm seven days a week, except for Good Friday, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year's Day. Anzac Day opening hours are 1pm - 5pm. Entry fees apply.
