Join us at the WA Maritime Museum these school holidays as we explore the wonderful world of sharks in our latest exhibition Planet Shark: Predator or Prey.

Planet Shark: Predator or Prey

Leave the outside world behind as you dive into the incredible underwater world of sharks–without getting your feet wet!

With rare fossils, life-sized models of real sharks, and a multi-sensory cinematic walk-through, this experience is perfect for young and old alike.

Dates: Opening Saturday 6 July
Times: Entry 9.30am - 5pm daily

XR:WA Festival

Travel to Antarctica, swim with a White Shark, or dive deep into the undersea world in this virtual reality festival!

Dates: Saturday 6 - Monday 8 July
Times: Session times vary

Age: 7+. Participants must be accompanied by an adult.

Shark Show: World of Wonders

Don’t miss this fun, interactive theatre show about sharks!

Join us for a rollicking journey through the wonderful world of sharks in this entertaining and informative theatre show for families.

Shark fact or shark fiction–you decide!

We Love Sharks

Make your own shark paper craft creations or paper tole picture, and listen to some fascinating shark-themed stories.

You can even contribute to our goal of creating 1000 origami sharks to raise awareness of shark conservation.

NAIDOC Family Fun Day

Join us for a family fun day at the WA Maritime Museum as we celebrate NAIDOC Week, the diverse Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures of Western Australia.

This year our program will feature amazing Aboriginal people from our communities who will share some of their culture with us.

Join us for:

  • Storytelling and sharing knowledge with Nyoongar Elder Marie Taylor
  • Torres Strait Islander workshop dance performance with Creative Connections
  • Art workshop with Kevin Bynder
  • Craft corner, make a friendship bracelet in the Aboriginal colours, or make a badge of the Torres Strait Islander flag

Our special events are free, so come in and enjoy NADIOC celebrations at the Western Australian Maritime Museum.

Djinda Kaatijin

Djinda Kaatijin (which in the Nyoongar language means ‘to understand stars’) is the next exciting instalment in Yirra Yaakin’s series of productions for young people.

Through a mix of traditional Nyoongar dreaming stories and contemporary indigenous storytelling,Djinda Kaatijin explores the importance of the stars and how they are culturally important to us all.

Dates: Wednesday 10 July
Times: 11am & 1pm
Cost: Free
